Milestones
Since its Founders Meeting in February 2002, ArchVoices:
- incorporated in the State of Georgia (February 2002);
- received its first financial contribution from the Boston Society of Architects and earned the Creative Achievement Award from the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (March 2002);
- announced plans to organize the 2002 National Internship Summit (April 2002);
- launched a professionally-designed website and received the Associate AIA National Special Accomplishment Award from the AIA National Associates Committee (May 2002);
- held its first Board of Directors meeting (June 2002);
- was granted 501(c)(3) nonprofit status by the Internal Revenue Service (August 2002);
- hosted the 2002 National Internship Summit (October 2002);
- participated in the Collateral Internship Management Group meeting and received the Associates Special Accomplishment Award from AIA California Council (November 2002);
- topped 10,000 subscribers (January 2003);
- launched its first annual essay competition and held its second annual Advisory Committee Retreat in Pittsburgh (February 2003);
- administered the 2003 Internship & Career Survey jointly with the AIA (March 2003);
- participated in the inaugural Data Summit, sponsored by the AIA Diversity Committee (April 2003);
- coordinated two continuing education seminars at the AIA National Convention (May 2003);
- commissioned Albert Vercerka of Esto to visit a series of high-profile firms in New York City and photograph young professionals at work (June 2003);
- unveiled the first official ArchVoices logo, designed by ArtChaology (July 2003);
- contributed to the editing of the AIA Journal on "Tomorrow's Architects" (August 2003);
- introduced an HTML newsletter format, a totally redesigned ArchVoices.org website, and a dedicated website to document the 2003 NAAB Validation Conference (September 2003);
- published the first-ever print publication on internship, Architectural Internship: Everybody's Issue as well as the ArchVoices/AIA 2003 Internship & Career Survey Final Report (October 2003);
- coordinated a daylong symposium called Fast Forward during Build Boston, the annual tradeshow of the Boston Society of Architects and AIA New York (November 2003);
- launched its second annual ArchVoices Essay Competition (January 2003);
- held its third annual Advisory Group Retreat in Raleigh, NC (February 2003);
- revised its organizational structure to include a six-person Board of Directors, twelve-person Board of Advisors, and twenty-person Advisory Group (March 2003);
- celebrated its fifth anniversary on Monday, May 24, 2004 by republishing the first-ever issue of ArchVoices newsletter (May 2003);
- introduced a mini-poster at the AIA Convention, promoting discussion of the "ARE concurrent with internship" (June 2003);
- coordinated a daylong symposium called "Pause, Rewind" during Build Boston, the annual tradeshow of the Boston Society of Architects (November 2004); and
- launched Version 3.0 of the ArchVoices.org website and corresponding HTML newsletter as well as the third annual archVoices essay competition (January 2005).
- held its fourth annual Advisory Committee Retreat in Dallas (February 2005); and
- partnered with the AIA and NCARB on the 2005 Internship & Career Survey (March 2005).
